Reflection on June 28: |
| |
What a beautiful weekend! With so much to do, see, visit. The Fun and Fellowship group went to the Hidden Lake Gardens and had a wonderful time (so I am told). The Mayfly Festival, #10, was a success, again. Worship was wonderful yesterday as we shared together as disciples in worship of God and Jesus.
Last evening, at a special church conference, members and "active participants" of our church were present. Plans for the restoration of the parking lot were presented and reviewed. After discussion, a vote was taken and the plans were approved.
The cost of this project will be significant. The trustees requested permission to seek funding, which could include a loan. The special church conference authorized the trustees to seeking funding and a loan toward the project.
This might seem like a "huge" loan, but the finance committee and trustees believe it can be met. The finance committee has determined that the loan repayment of approximately can be met by each giving unit adding only $17 a month to their pledge. You see, it is not so huge after all.
A special thanks to the trustees and finance committee for all their work on this project and to those attended the special church conference Sunday evening.
Now the work can begin as we seek bids and project time line. The trustees and finance committee will keep us informed as to the progress. In the meantime, please pray for the project team and the church. |

Care and Share - Personal care items

Sunday, July 5, 2009: Soul Scrubbing
II Corinthians 12: 2-10; Mark 6: 1-13; Psalm 48
Christians bloated by spiritual pride and arrogance stink - literally. Despite the apparent smugness of their self-satisfaction, they know they stink. Humility, the sense of self-smallness, is a kind of soul-scrubber - taking our greatest weaknesses, our smelliest selves, and binds them to the power of Christ to scrub our souls and transform our spirits into a breath of fresh air. In a humble believer, only an atmosphere of purity and, if we are lucky enough to detect it, the slightest whiff of the sweetness of Christ's own Spirit are breathed out on the world. How do you smell? |
